Changing jobs

I left my job at the end of August. It was scary to leave Expedia Group after 8 years. There were a lot of good times, growth and friendships 💌.

Given the global spread of 125 makers reporting up to me, the job was challenging and stressful. In the last 8 weeks, I've refocused my energy towards creative pursuits and resetting.

Good stats to prove:

Perhaps the best data point of all is this…

Resting heart rate down by 10bpm

Resting heart rate down by 10bpm

Many have asked if I sleep in more… no I don’t. Something I realised in my time off is that true freedom is the ability to spend time on things you want. Time is the ultimate luxury item.

What's next?

I will be joining GoDaddy as Senior Director, Engineering for the Managed Wordpress team. I've never worked on an open source product as a full time gig. This is going to be a lot of fun!

Tasmania, take #2

Took a week off in Tasmania to unwind. It was full of excitement!

After our first visit to Cradle Mountain cancelled by a metre of snow, we were determined to stick out the 300mm rain in one day to walk the mountains. It was worth the wait. We got some spectacular walks in.

We managed to cover Dove Lake Circuit on Day 1, followed by a ~14km walk in Overland Track on day 2 (from Ranger Station → Ronny Creek (buses were cancelled) → Wombat Pool → Wombat Peak → Crater Falls → Ronny Creek).

Wombat Peak

Amazing views and flora throughout. And friendly, but very persistent crow who stalked us.

Lake Lilla (that’s Cradle Mountain peak at the back, just covered by the clouds)

We saw some epic rain that took out cell towers, caused landslides and town evacuations! 300mm in some spots.

We stayed in a beautiful warm cottage.

Ate some great food!! Yes, there were scallop pies too :)

Experienced some wacky art work at the MONA.

And saw some cute and cuddle friends.

10/10. Will go again.
